NBA 2K17 is a basketball simulation video game that is the 18th instalment in the NBA 2K series and is published by 2K Sports. The series’ goal is to provide players with an authentic NBA experience, allowing players to play with notable, real life players and teams as well as customised ones.
The game includes multiple game modes including MyCareer, MyGM, MyLeague and MyTeam modes. MyCareer allows players to create a customisable player and then play through their career; MyGM and MyTeam provides players full control over an entire organisation; and MyTeam provides players the opportunity to create their own team to compete with other players’ teams.
MyCareer is certainly a fun feature within the game, in which your customisable player is tipped to be the next big NBA hit. Your job is to ensure your player rises to the occasion both on the court, being the star player, and off the court, with making the right calls with endorsement deals. MyGM and MyLeague give you a more organisational gameplay, allowing you to essentially manage all aspects of a team from players and the team’s budget to how the league games play out.
One of the cool features of NBA2K17 is the roster of teams available. Not only are you able to play games with current NBA teams, a whole host of other teams are also available such as the US and Australian Olympic basketball teams, classic historical teams such as the 95/96 Chicago Bulls team and the 85/86 Boston Celtics team, as well as about 21 Euro League teams. This makes for so many options to choose from, which makes for more fun.
Another notable feature about the game is it’s huge selection of choices for a customisable experience. From customising skills right down to the kind of footwear to use, the game offers players the freedom to play the game as they wish, which of course, makes gaming so much more enjoyable.
The visuals are crisp and clear, with gameplay looking fantastic. The game is easily appealing visually and not at all distracting, which initially put me off picking up this title. I was pleasantly surprised by just how good the game looked and how closely the real NBA players resembled their real life counterparts.
For someone who has never been big on sports and have not played sports games before, NBA 2K17 was nice and easy. I enjoyed being able to skip playing through an entire career and play some street ball instead. As a whole, it was just enjoyable being able to choose just how I wanted to play the game. The fact that I could play with other players made the game all the more interesting.
For any NBA fan or sports games enthusiasts, this is definitely a game worth picking up and you can do so here.
