PlayStation Partners with Let’s Play Live to Present: The GT Sport NZ Championship

Let’s Play Live (“LPL”) and PlayStation New Zealand are pleased to announce a nationwide GT Sport competition that will appeal to all racing game enthusiasts.

The GT Sport NZ Championship will feature the eight fastest racers from across New Zealand as they compete for a $10,000 prize pool; including cash prizes, PlayStation VR, and Limited Edition GT Sport PlayStation4 (“PS4”) bundles.

Physical qualifiers will take place at the SKYCITY Welcome Room on Saturday, November 25 from 9am-3pm. The event will have eight racing simulators set up with GT Sport and the top six racers, based on the fastest lap time, will qualify for the grand finale.

Online qualifiers will take place between November 17-29 and the two competitors with the fastest lap during the allotted time period will join the six physical qualifiers for the eight person grand finale in Auckland.

The GT Sport NZ Championship grand finale will be contested at the SKYCITY Theatre in Auckland on Tuesday, December 5. The top eight racers will compete against each other in a 25-lap race around Mt Panorama, with a celebrity contest to serve as the curtain-raiser.

“We are very excited to be partnering with LPL for what is going to be an amazing event” said Krister Robinson, Head of Marketing, PlayStation NZ.  “The Gran Turismo franchise has always been extremely popular in New Zealand and we can’t wait to see Kiwis show their skills on the big stage.”

Duane Mutu, Director at LPL, says this is another exciting opportunity for Kiwi gamers. “We have had a huge year with a range of different games for people to compete in so it was only fitting we branched out to a racing title,” Mutu says.

“It will be awesome to see who can tear this game up. We are expecting another big turnout for this one.”

Contestants can find more information about this competition at letsplay.live. The event is open to New Zealand residents who are aged 16 years and over.

GT Sport, part of the iconic Gran Turismo franchise exclusive to PlayStation, was launched last month.
