A Batman Anime Film Releases in 2018. Here’s a First Look.

The one thing that DC Comics and Warner Bros. have ever gotten right with Batman is the animated version of Gotham’s infamous Dark Knight. Despite terrible portrayals of the character on the big screen, Warner Bros Animation Studios has always managed to get Batman ‘right’ in the various animated series and films. I’m sure you all can agree that Batman: The Animated Series is by far one of the best versions of Batman there is.

However, today, a worthy contender has just been revealed with the first full length trailer of Batman Ninja, which debuted at Tokyo Comic Con. The upcoming anime film by Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Entertainment is directed by Junpei Mizusaki (JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure), written by Kazuki Nakashima (Kill la Kill) and re-designed in anime form by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki.

The film follows Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, Robin and several other notable Batman characters as they’re accidentally transported to Japan in the Sengoku period (the Middle Ages). There, Batman must figure out a way to stop the Joker and his minions from forever altering the future of the country.

Despite the rather lacklustre title, Batman Ninja does look absolutely gorgeous, with a re-design that gives Batman characters a look we’ve never quiet seen before but can definitely appreciate.

Check out the trailer for the upcoming Batman anime film below.

Batman Ninja will release in Japan in 2018. No release date has been set for the Western world just yet.
