The indie games publisher went all out for their E3 presentation this morning leaving many confused but also excited.
Their presentation began by introducing a 4 year long plan for the Devolver Digital Cinematic Universe, an idea that was quickly shot down and replaced with something I don’t really know how to explain. It might make a bit more sense if you let the Devolver Digital team explain it for you here. All you need to know is Devolver MaxPass+ : The New Era of Monetization As A Service.
To be honest the whole event was some wild fever dream with game trailers sprinkled throughout. It was absolutely wild.
Shadow Warrior 3
The first game to be shown was Shadow Warriors 3. A first person shooter that basically looks like Doom with a mythical Chinese setting. Oh, you also have a grappling hook! “Get over here!”.
Shadow Warrior 3 is launching this year on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4
Trek to Yomi
Next up, we had a game that seemed to completely contrast with the madness that was going on in the presentation, Trek to Yomi. Styled in black and white, Trek to Yomi is a story about a young samurai looking to protect his town and the people he loves. Not much was shown in terms of game play, but it looks to be a side scrolling beat’em up. Launching in 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Phantom Abyss
Phantom Abyss is a procedurally generated title which requires dodging various threats. The game releases in Early Access on 22 June.
Wizard With A Gun
A sandbox survival game with a wicked title that just rolls off the tongue, Wizard With A Gun is due to release next year.
Death’s Door
An action platformer, Death’s Door comes from the creators of Titan Souls and has a very Hades style look to it. The game launches on PC and Xbox on 20 July.
Inscryption
A brilliant yet creepy looking card game, Inscryption is definitely a game we’ll be picking up when it release sometime next year.
Devolver Tumble Time
Featuring characters from previous Devolver titles, Devolver Tumble Time is a physics-based puzzler for mobile devices. According to the game’s official description, you can “choose characters and rack up big points by matching and clearing their impossibly adorable heads from the tumbler. Get hyped enough and unleash each character’s special ability to clear huge chunks and earn power-ups to create chaotic chain reactions.”
Demon Throttle
A co-op platformer, Demon Throttle will only release as a physical title through Special Reserve Games next year.
