It wouldn’t be an E3 showcase without presentations from publishers. After an exciting start to Day 2 of E3, Square Enix’s presentation continuned the festivities.
Here’s a recap of everything Square Enix revealed.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy – First look
Square Enix is continuing to develop the Marvel franchise into video games, even after the lukewarm reception of Marvel’s Avengers, which released in August last year.
This time, they’re diving into the space Avengers: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Here’s another single-player, story driven game where you take the reins of Starlord, aka Peter Quill, in another 3rd person action-adventure game similar to Marvel’s Avengers.
The game will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC on October 26th.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin was announced during Square Enix’s presentation.
As someone who is not a big Final Fantasy fan, I honestly have no idea what is going on, or whose origin story this is. All I know is something tells me this main guy really doesn’t like Chaos.
Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is due out in 2022.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster
More Final Fantasy news! The first 6 original Final Fantasy games are getting something called a “Pixel Remaster”.
The first 6 games were originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, so I would imagine this will just be a 2021 polish of the games. Similar to the 2013 PC re-release of Final Fantasy 7.
Legend of Mana HD Remaster
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the classic, Legend of Mana is getting a HD remake!
Marvel’s Avengers Expansion: Black Panther | War for Wakanda
Speaking of Marvel’s Avengers…
Hitman Sniper: The Shadows
Diving back into the Agent 47 world, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows follows a group of assassins brought into the light after the disappearance of Agent 47.
The game is coming exclusively to mobile this year. I wasn’t expecting that.
NieR Re[in]carnation
More mobile games!
Final Fantasy 7: The First Solider
Here’s a Final Fantasy 7 Battle Royale. Was that on your E3 bingo card? Oh, and it’s on mobile.
Babylon’s Fall
Announced at 2018’s E3, Babylon’s Fall looks like it might be finally launching in the near future. The team is currently recruiting for a closed Beta.
Life is Strange: True Colours & Life is Strange Remastered
The Square Enix presentation ended with a fan favorite. Life is Strange: Remastered was announced, along with a new addition to the series, Life is Strange: True Colours.
