Timezone Brings World-First Gaming Experience to New Zealand

Halo: Fireteam Raven launches at Timezone Wairau

Timezone New Zealand is excited to introduce the first arcade edition of cult favourite game Halo to New Zealand. Halo: Fireteam Raven is set to blow arcade gamer’s minds at 7pm on Tuesday August 28th, when Timezone at Xtreme Entertainment Wairau becomes the first New Zealand venue to boast this state-of-the-art multiplayer gaming experience. Other Timezone stores will follow hot on Wairau’s heels, with the game debuting at two other Timezone stores the following day.

“Bringing the arcade game version of Halo to Timezone at Xtreme Wairau gives the game’s dedicated fan base a chance to play like never before. Timezone is thrilled to introduce this first-in-New Zealand experience to fans as part of Timezone’s 40th birthday celebrations,” says Gary Walker, CEO of Timezone New Zealand.

Halo’s console-based playing experience is now brought to life in an immersive multiplayer platform, which enables four players to either play cooperatively, or compete against each other. It’s Halo, but more: this latest instalment’s physical structure boasts a colossal 130-inch widescreen, 4K gameplay and 5.1 surround sound. It adds a tangible element to the much-loved franchise, allowing individuals the opportunity to play right alongside Master Chief in the battle to ward off the enemy forces of the Covenant and the Flood
infestation.

Halo: Fireteam Raven was created and fine-tuned over several years and is set in the timeframe of 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved game. Players will take on the roles of the Fireteam Raven – an elite group of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. They’ll not only be able to battle their friends, competing against them for the highest score – fans will also be able to scan a QRC code with their phones to upload stats and progress to their Halo Waypoint accounts. Exactly what you’d expect from a true 2018 arcade game experience!

The news gets better: Timezone is offering one fan the chance to be the first in New Zealand to play Halo: Fireteam Raven. Simply visit the official Timezone New Zealand Facebook page’s pinned ‘Halo’ post and say why you’d want to be the first to play! The winner will be chosen from these posts and, unless they’re from Auckland, they’ll win an overnight trip to the event and more. So, get creative and haul out the big guns…

Public wishing to attend the VIP Launch event at Timezone Xtreme Wairau on August 28th will need to register with details noted on the Timezone website and facebook page. There will be a best-dressed prize up for grabs by those that make the door list – so dust off the Cortana gear for the chance to win. As well as checking out the skills of renowned Kiwi gaming personalities, journalists and game site hosts, Halo fans will be able to pose with members of the 405 Regiment NZ Division, who will be in attendance in full costume.
