James Gunn, is currently in talks with Warner Bros. Pictures to write (and possibly direct) the next Suicide Squad film.
This news is a huge deal for the film industry, with Gunn effectively moving from Marvel Studios, after being let go by Disney, to its rival DC Entertainment. Whether this was a calculated decision after the rather surprising move to let Gunn go due to controversial tweets the director posted years ago, when he was first starting out, remains to be seen.
At present, Gunn is rumoured to be taking a completely different approach to Suicide Squad, which means the film could effectively be a standalone rather than a direct sequel.
