Overwatch’s Latest Event, ‘Uprising’, Is Now Live

Blizzard Entertainment’s popular videogame, Overwatch, adds a new seasonal event, titled Uprising, which begins today on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The event takes the game’s cast back in time in London, where a crucial moment in the game’s history took place – when robots attempted to take control over the English city.

Uprising adds a new co-op brawl which takes players back to Tracer’s first mission, in which she and her fellow Overwatch teammates battle waves of Omnic extremists. Blizzard describes the event as:

“Journey seven years into the past and join a group of Overwatch agents fighting through the streets of King’s Row to quell an uprising led by Null Sector, a rogue group of omnics. Team up with your friends and play as Tracer, Torbjörn, Reinhardt, or Mercy to defeat the robots and liberate the city. There are no reinforcements. Failure is not an option. The future depends on you.”

According to Overwatch’s game director, Jeff Kaplan, Uprising will be playable in two forms, one in which players may play as either Tracer, Reinhardt, Mercy or Torbjörn, and another in which players are able to choose from Overwatch’s entire character roster.

In addition, the event also adds over 100 new cosmetic items which can be earned via loot boxes in the game. This includes some classic Overwatch skins, including a grim looking McRee, a nurse’ uniform for Mercy (no surprises there) and a wickedly hot Blackwatch Genji. A preview of some of the skins can be found below.

Blizzard also released a special video which offers additional background, through Tracer’s narration, which is always welcome, on the Omnic uprising at King’s Row and Tracer’s first mission with the Overwatch team.

Here’s a preview of the event and some of the skins:
