Netflix has revealed a first look at Roach, Geralt’s horse companion from The Witcher series.
The reveal came via Henry Cavill’s Instagram account along with an ode to Roach.
Lauren Hissich, screenwriter for the Netflix series, also shared the photo on Twitter and then replied to her own tweet saying: “Squint and you’ll see something else in this picture. Go ahead. Look hard.”
With that fans scoured the image looking for clues as to what this could be. Someone thought it’s a troll in the background, however several eagle-eyed fans spotted the pommel to Geralt’s silver sword; a sword that caused much division among fans when the first lot of images for the series were revealed, which showed only Geralt’s steel sword.
The first season of Netflix’s adaption will be based on The Last Wish, Andrzej Sapkowski’s first The Witcher novel, which consisted of several different stories and takes place years before CD Projekt Red’s first game.
The series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date.
