The good folks at Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe (SIEE) have announced a PlayStation Plus (“PS Plus”) discount, just days before a controversial membership price increase takes effect. The offer will provide PlayStation players with 15 months of PlayStation Plus when they purchase a 12 month membership from the PlayStation Store.
The current annual fee for the 12 month membership of PlayStation Plus is NZD $89.95. This offer is open to all players including current PlayStation Plus members and is available until 9 PM NZST on Tuesday, 29th August, only from the PlayStation Store.
From 31st August, just two days after the offer ends, Sony will increase the price of PlayStation Plus memberships for players on a monthly and three monthly subscription; annual membership rates will remain at $89.95.
The cost of a three month subscription will increase from $32.95 to $39.95, and the cost of a monthly subscription will change from $11.95 to $12.95 per month. Judging by the offer and the lack of an increase on the annual membership, Sony appears to be encouraging PlayStation players to purchase annual subscriptions instead of shorter term plans, which in the long run, works out to be a better savings.
For those unfamiliar with PlayStation Plus, the membership allows players to enjoy PlayStation 4 online multiplayer, two PlayStation 4 games each month, new PlayLink social party game That’s You! as a bonus game until 25th October, exclusive discounts and 10GB of online storage for game saves.
If you’re thinking of becoming a PlayStation Plus member or are wanting to extend your membership, now would be the best time to get more bang for your buck! Thanks Sony!
