Tom Welling Reprises Smallville Role In The Arrowverse!

It’s finally happening Smallville fans! Tom Welling will officially be joining the Arrowverse.

The Smallville star will be reprising his role as Clark Kent in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. The actor will be joining Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh, who will also be portraying the Man of Steel .

According to Deadline, “talk started over the summer that the Arrowverse producers were looking to feature multiple versions of Superman in different time periods during  the Infinite Earths event, with Welling, Hoechlin and Routh all on the wish list.”

Fans have been calling for Welling to return as Clark Kent, however the actor has been reluctant to return. Interestingly at the Wellington Armageddon Expo earlier this year, Welling did jokingly say “I’ll be on Arrow” during a panel discussion. Looks like our wildest dream has finally come true.

“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it,” he said. “So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.” Arrow co-creator/executive producer Marc Guggenheim said.

Both Hoechlin and Routh will done the suit and cape in the crossover. However, it’s uncertain whether Welling will do the same or simply remain as Clark Kent.

The Arrowverse crossover event is shaping up to be a major TV event, with a whole host of incredible guest stars including Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series), Burt Ward (Batman), Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), John Wesley Shipp (The Flash) and many more iconic DC names joining the five-episode event.
