First it was toys, then it became a video game series and now, Mattel’s popular toy car franchise, Hot Wheels, is getting the live action film treatment.
According to Variety, Mattel Films will be partnering with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring the franchise to the big screen.
This will be the second feature for Mattel Films, after news broke earlier this year of a live-action Barbie film starring Margot Robbie.
Mattel looks to be reacquiring rights to its various IPs and has renegotiated a deal with Sony for ‘Masters of the Universe’.
Could this mean a resurgence of our favourite childhood toys?
