Immortal No More | Gfinity Season 2 Week 2

Kings Slain and Old Grudges Return

The Gfinity Elite Series Australia is now back in full swing after a successful opening weekend. Heading into week 2, Melbourne Avant vs Sydney Chiefs will be the headline match up as both are tied first in standings, with the winning team getting an early leg up. Victories are far from secure this week, as even Melbourne ORDER face tough battles at the hands of Brisbane Deceptors.

Week two will see the following matchups across CS:GO, Rocket League and Street Fighter V:

  • Melbourne Avant v Sydney Chiefs
  • Perth Ground Zero v Sydney Roar
  • Melbourne ORDER v Brisbane Deceptors

IMMORTAL NO MORE

Melbourne ORDER may have won Rocket League last season, but last week Sydney Roar got the best of them with a commanding 3-1 win. This week Brisbane Deceptors will be looking to take the series in equally strong fashion after felling Melbourne Avant in week one.

While ORDER is the top dog when it comes to Street Fighter V, Brisbane Deceptors gave a valiant fight in CS:GO last week. Could this be the week the underdogs begin to unseat the champions and shake up the standings?

SETTLING OLD GRUDGES

Sydney Chiefs and Melbourne Avant are two of the most established organisations in ANZ, with a proven track record in the Gfinity Elite Series Australia. Currently tied, both teams will be looking for any opportunity to put some ground between them on the table. Avant has CS:GO on lock, but Chiefs have the Rocket League advantage.

The real showcase of these two clubs’ skills will come on Sunday afternoon in Street Fighter V. Chiefs’ Somniac, Bksama and ZG vs Avant’s BurnoutFighter, RumoursofGhosts and Spaceghost is sure to be an explosive battle.

A new introduction for Season 2 is the CS:GO MVP system, honouring the standout players in each match of the weekend. Caster’s selection for week 1 MVP’s were Melbourne ORDER’s Hatz, Perth Ground Zero’s Void and Melbourne Avant’s Pan1K. The community can also nominate their MVP each week via the Gfinity twitter.
