Hot off the critical and financial success of last year’s Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. Pictures seems to be focusing their efforts into expanding the adventures of Diana of Themyscira.
With a sequel reportedly in the works, the rumour mill has been in overdrive with reports emerging that Cheetah is the sequel’s villain.
That Hashtag Show revealed that the sequel will “follow Diana Prince into the 1980s where she will (somehow) reunite with Steve Trevor to take on the now dissolved Soviet Union.” A source informed that somewhere in the story, the DC villain, Cheetah, will emerge.
According to reports, La La Land actress, Emma Stone (who played Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films) has been approached to play the character, however whether or not she has accepted the opportunity is currently unconfirmed.
The film version of Cheetah is said to follow the version featuring Barbara Ann Minerva, “a British anthropologist who becomes the avatar of the cheetah god after locating the lost city of Urzkartagan and stumbling into the middle of an ancient ritual.”
Wonder Woman 2 is slated to hit theaters on November 1, 2019. The next chapter in the DCEU is Aquaman, which hits theaters on December 21.
