With Disney and Marvel both announcing new and exciting updates at this year’s D23 Expo, it’s only fair for there to be Star Wars announcements too. Here’s a recap of Day 1 from Star Wars.
Star Wars Eras Renamed
Once known as the Skywalker Saga, Lucasfilm has now re-christened the epic Star Wars sagas with three new names, one for each era.
- The Age of Republic:
- The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith
- The Age of Rebellion:
- Star Wars Rebels, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
- The Age of Resistance:
- Star Wars Resistance, The Mandalorian, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker
The Mandalorian
Lucasfilm revealed the first official trailer for Jon Favreau’s upcoming Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian, which will premiere on Disney+ on November 12. The series has also been green lit for a second season and will include actress Ming-Na Wen (Mulan & Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) in a key role.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Premiere Date
The hit animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, was confirmed to release on Disney+. The series’ seventh and final season will premiere on the streaming service in February 2020.
Cassian Andor Series
Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk joined Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, on stage to briefly discuss the Cassian Andor series. The series is confirmed to be a prequel, set prior to Rogue One. Filming is currently underway.
Hello There, Obi-Wan Kenobi
At D23, it has now been officially confirmed that Ewan McGregor is, indeed, reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The series will follow the Jedi Master’s adventures after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Production will begin some time in 2020.
