Kevin Smith took to Twitter this morning to drop a surprise trailer for his upcoming movie, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, ahead of his Hall H panel on Saturday night at San Diego Comic-Con.
The eighth movie in Kevin Smith’s View Askeweniverse sends Jay (Jason Mewes) and his hetero-life partner Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) on a cross-country adventure to stop Hollywood from rebooting Bluntman and Chronic.
A reboot of the film they tried to stop in 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which is based on the comic book versions of themselves in the Bluntman and Chronic comic created by Ben Affleck’s character Holden McNeil in 1997’s Chasing Amy.
With Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith reprising their roles as the stoner duo, they’re also joined by Harley Quinn Smith, who plays Jay’s estranged daughter and Aparna Brielle of A.P Bio fame.
The movie is filled with cameos from stars both current and past including, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Chris Hemsworth, Melissa Benoist, Val Kilmer, Nicolas Cage, Rosario Dawson and The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.
After being stuck in production limbo since 2017, Saban films acquired the distribution rights with Universal Pictures in January this year.
Filming officially began on the 25th of February this year, one year to the day Smith suffered from a massive heart attack that almost claimed his life.
The film is set to hit cinemas on October 15th this year.
