According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Foxx is set to star in the upcoming Spawn film, with creator, Todd McFarlane making his directorial debut.
The official word came this morning after months of rumours claiming the actor would be playing the titular anti-hero.
Spawn follows a former black ops agent who was betrayed and murdered, his soul sent to hell to pay for all the innocents he had killed. Making a deal with the devil, he returns to the land of the living only to find that his wife has moved on and he is a disfigured, super-powered spawn of darkness.
Todd McFarlane, who created the comic series and is one of the founding artists at Image Comics, will direct the film.
This will be Foxx’s second role in the comic book film world after starring as the villain, Electro, in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
