Matt Reeves Officially Confirmed As ‘The Batman’ Director

Matt Reeves has officially been confirmed as the new director for the upcoming Warner Bros. and DC Comics film, The Batman.

Reeves, whose directorial career includes Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield, was offered the role after Ben Affleck announced that he will step down in order to focus on portraying the Batman character. However, reports announced last week that negotiations between the studio and Reeves had broken down, with a possibility to resume. In a press release today, Warner Bros. confirmed that Reeves will indeed direct the film.

“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child,” Reeves said. “He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”
