Joe Taslim Sub Zero Mortal Kombat

The Mortal Kombat Reboot Casts The Raid’s Joe Taslim As Sub-Zero

New Line Cinema has cast Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero in the upcoming Mortal Kombat film.

Taslim, best known for playing Sergeant Jaka in The Raid, is an Indonesian martial artist, making him a perfect fit for the role.

Sub-Zero is the first character to have been revealed for the upcoming film, which will start filming in South Australia later this year.

This will be the third live-action Mortal Kombat film, based on the popular video game franchise, but acts as a reboot. The original film, which released in 1995, grossed over $122 million worldwide, while achieving cult classic status. The sequel, however, did not do as well.

No plot details have been released as yet, but the film has James Wan of Aquaman fame producing, with Australian director Simon McQuoid helming the film.

Mortal Kombat 11 launched earlier this year and became the largest launch for the franchise since its inception.

The film is currently set to release on March 5th, 2021.
