The 2017 indie game, Cuphead, is coming to Netflix.
Netflix, this morning, announced that the critically acclaimed game is getting its own animated series on the streaming platform.
Studio MDHR, the developers of the game, confirmed that the series will be titled, The Cuphead Show and will retain the 1930s art style that made the game so famous.
In an interview with IGN, Cuphead co-creator Chad Moldenhauer said, “we aren’t going to be animating this ourselves, because it would never be finished.”
The animation will be hand drawn by Netflix’s animation team rather than Studio MDHR.
There has been no word as yet on when the series will launch on the streaming service.
The upcoming DLC for the 2017 platformer called “The Delicious Last Course” was recently delayed until 2020, so fans can look forward to getting a double helping of Cuphead and Mugman’s zany adventures across the Inkwell Isles.
While Cuphead was a Microsoft exclusive for a short time, the game became available on the Nintendo Switch in April this year.
With two seasons of Castlevania already out on Netflix, and a third one the way, as well as a Devil May Cry anime coming soon, the animation department at Netflix is no stranger to video game adaptations. We’re pretty excited to see what The Cuphead Show will bring.
