Nintendo Reveals The Nintendo Switch Lite

Looking for more portability? Well look no further.

Nintendo has just announced the Nintendo Switch Lite, a cheaper alternative to the 2017 hybrid console. The Switch Lite will release on 20th September and will retail for AU$329.95.

The flagship Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017 and offers three different play modes: playing in TV mode by placing the console into a Nintendo Switch dock, playing cooperatively or competitively in tabletop mode by sharing Joy-Con controllers, and playing in handheld mode. The console comes with either grey Joy-Con controllers or neon red and neon blue Joy-Con controllers.

Unlike its predecessor, the new console is explicitly a handheld. It is unable to connect to a TV and the Joy-Con controllers are built in.

The Switch Lite is said to be lighter, sturdier, and comes with an improved battery life.

The new device can play all games in the robust Nintendo Switch library that support handheld mode, although some games will have restrictions

In terms of design, the Lite comes in yellow, grey, and turquoise colours at launch. There will also be a limited Pokémon Sword and Shield edition, the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian & Zamazenta system, which releases on 8th November.
