Last week, PlayStation New Zealand held a launch party event in Auckland to celebrate the release of the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive video game, Horizon Zero Dawn, produced by Guerrilla Games.
PlayStation certainly knows how to throw a party and the event, held at the Auckland Sony offices, went off without a hitch, with members of the media and local New Zealand gaming talent, including Twitch streamers, in attendance. Set to the theme of the Horizon Zero Dawn game, the Sony offices were transformed, with fantastic lighting, into a wicked gamer networking environment. With hospitality provided and a cosplayer dressed as Aloy, the main character of the game, attendees mingled with delight (except for one small issue concerning the heat and a lack of air-conditioning).
Shortly after nibbles and mingling amongst ourselves, we were presented with a fantastic speech by Guerrilla Games‘ senior producer, Joel Eschler, who introduced the game and it’s history to us, giving us reason to be more hyped up about the game. Later, PlayStation themselves, showed us never before seen gameplay footage taken from a PS4 Pro, which made the game look incredible. It was absolutely brilliant and encouraged attendees to try a hands on with a small sample of the game.
Not only did the presentation and hands-on provide excitement for the game, but being able to chat with Joel Eschler and receive a signed Horizon Zero Dawn poster was incredible. I’m super excited for this game and I’m incredibly grateful to PlayStation New Zealand for putting together a fabulous video game launch event.
