Square Enix, the publisher behind popular franchises such as Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider, today made some exciting announcements at their E3 2019 press conference.
The publisher was given the evening slot, usually reserved for Sony PlayStation, who is not in attendance this year. This meant a slot that was set to rival that of the Xbox E3 Briefing. How did it compare? Find out below with a recap of all the announcements.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
The biggest announcement of the day was that of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake, a remake of the iconic original game that re-defined the RPG genre. The first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience that provides a great starting point to the series.
The title will feature a hybrid battle system that merges real-time action with strategic, command-based combat.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered brings the game’s classic story to modern platforms with newly rendered visuals that bring the world to life like never before. The hugely anticipated title will be coming to the Nintendo Switch™ system, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One family of devices and PC (Steam) later this year.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
A free demo will be available to download for Dragon Quest Builders 2 on PS4 from 27thJune. The demo will give builders a taste of the gameplay while introducing the brand new story and characters, as they prepare in their battle against the Children of Hargon to bring the power of creation back to the land. Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be available for PS4 on 12th July 2019.
Square Enix Music Library
Music from the legendary FINAL FANTASY series marks the first of the Square Enix Music catalogue to arrive on streaming platforms. Starting today, listeners around the world can press play on the full original soundtrack and arrangement albums for games in the beloved series at any time and on the go.
SaGa Series Makes A Comeback
Legendary RPG masterpiece Romancing SaGa™ 3 will soon make its official debut in the West with an HD remastered coming to consoles and mobile devices. SQUARE ENIX also revealed that SaGa SCARLET GRACE: AMBITIONS™ is also in development for Europe, North America, and Australasia.
