New Zealand film-maker, Taika Waititi, is Hollywood’s hottest director!
From Kiwi hits, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople, to blockbuster flicks, Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, Taika Waititi is on everyone’s radar, with everything he touches turning to gold.
Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the famed director has been approached to develop a film for yet another popular franchise, Star Wars. Whether this means he’ll write or direct the Star Wars film is still uncertain. Either way, the rumours are certainly exciting, given Waititi’s experience with the franchise, having contributed to the Disney + series, The Mandalorian.
So, what kind of Star Wars project will Waititi be involved in? At this stage, no one knows. With The Rise of Skywalker bringing forty years of Star Wars stories to an end, we can only guess that the next film will be set in a different era, with brand new characters making their debut.
With Waititi being involved in several projects and commitments, such as acting roles in Suicide Squad and Free Guy, developing an animated Flash Gordon reboot, producing the FX series, What We Do In The Shadows, and one day, an Akira film, it’s unlikely that we’ll hear too much about the Star Wars film anytime soon.
