Detective Pikachu Thrills Audiences To Capture Top Spot At NZ Box-Office

The first-ever, live-action Pokémon adventure, POKÉMON Detective Pikachu, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, scored big at the box office this weekend, opening at number one and entertaining audiences of all ages to earn an impressive $1.02 million across New Zealand and Pacific Islands (including advanced screenings).

The crowd-pleasing comedy adventure, with an all-star cast led by Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu, appeared on approximately 95 screens beginning 16 May 2019.  The film’s opening weekend marked the highest grossing Warner Bros. title released in New Zealand this year.
