Sony PlayStation Announcements From Paris Games Week

Sony, today, unveiled a whole slew of video game announcements at the Paris Games Week 2017. Whilst the bulk of the show was filled with new trailers for titles already revealed at this year’s E3, there were a whole lot of new titles announced for both the PS4 and for PlayStation VR.

Here’s a round up of the biggest news and trailers from Sony’s Press Conference at the show:

DESTINY 2 EXPANSION CURSE OF THE OSIRIS

Due out on December 5th, Curse of Osiris adds a new chapter to Destiny 2, expanding the universe by adding an all-new cinematic story with new and returning characters, a new destination to explore, Mercury and its Infinite Forest, a new social space to visit called the Lighthouse, as well as new missions, new strikes, new raid content, new free roam activities, a world quest to complete, and much more.

GOD OF WAR

The new trailer for God of War shows off more combat as well as just how badass Kratos can be.

THE LAST OF US PART II

The latest trailer for The Last of Us Part II depicts the apocalypse as a gruesome and nasty place, which gives us a bit more insight into the nature of the sequel to the critically acclaimed, The Last of Us, by Naughty Dog.

HORIZON ZERO DAWN EXPANSION THE FROZEN WILDS

The new trailer for the Horizon Zero Dawn expansion, The Frozen Wilds, shows off some giant angry robots in action. The expansion is due to release next week.

CONCRETE GENIE

Concrete Genie is a visually stunning adventure game about a bullied boy named Alex who can bring paintings to life and escapes his world full of magic and monsters by creating his own “living landscapes.”

GHOST OF TSUSHIMA

The creators of Infamous, Sucker Punch Productions, is back with a brand new game, Ghost of Tsushima, an open world action-adventure samurai game set in Feudal Japan.

SPELUNKY 2

One of the most popular rogue-lite, platformer, indie games of all time is getting a long-awaited sequel. The cave-dwelling adventures of Spelunky will soon continue with parenthood being the big influence on the sequel’s story and themes.

THE GARDENS BETWEEN

The Gardens Between is an adventure puzzle game that allows you to control the flow of time and follows the story of two friends as they solve puzzles and make their way through a strange world filled with impossibly huge objects.

GUACAMELEE 2

Guacamelee 2 is a sequel to the 2013 side-scrolling, action platformer and takes place seven years after the end of the first game. The sequel will introduce a new threat to “the very fabric of space and time” and will feature a four player co-op.

MEGALITH

Megalith is a team-based, colourful ‘hero shooter’ that plays in Virtual Reality and has players controlling powerful creatures called titans, fighting to become even more powerful gods.

THE HONG KONG MASSACRE

The Hong Kong Massacre is a top-down shooter with a cyberpunk theme inspired by classic Hong Kong action movies.

ERICA

Erica comes as a part of PlayStation’s new PlayLink initiative, which allows certain games to be controlled using a smartphone. The game is a live-action drama where you can interact with the narrative.

BLOOD & TRUTH

Blood & Truth is a game being developed for PlayStation VR and is an action thriller set in modern day London. The game is inspired by the PlayStation VR Worlds game, London Heist, and focuses on Ryan Marks, an elite Special Forces soldier who is on a dangerous mission to save his family from a ruthless criminal overlord.

FINAL FANTASY XV: EPISODE IGNIS

The final DLC for Final Fantasy XV, Episode Ignis, will release on December 13th. The game will focus on the character, Ignis, and will include plenty more story reveals, with a narrative that happens concurrently with the main game, filling in some narrative gaps as well as providing some new recipes.
