Sega’s iconic character, Sonic the Hedgehog, will be sprinting his way to the big screen in 2019.
Talk of Sonic starring in a feature film first began back in 2016, with Deadpool director Tim Miller signing on as executive producer and Jeff Fowler as director.
The film was initially set for a 2018 release but Sega has now announced that it is looking at a November 2019 release date for the film.
Details are scarce, however it has been noted that the film will be a mixture of live-action and CGI much like the upcoming Detective Pikachu film.
Sonic the Hedgehog isn’t the only beloved video game character to be making his way to the big screen next year. Nintendo’s lovable Italian plumber, Mario, will be starring in an animated film produced in joint partnership between Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment.
