Despite the agreement between Sony Pictures and Disney breaking down, it would seem that the Spider-Man film universe is growing.
It was revealed today that Sony is planning a Madame Webb film and has tapped Morbius writers, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless to helm the project.
Though details have not been revealed, it is likely that the producers for Venom, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, may return to produce this film.
Created by Denny O’Neil and John Romita Jr, Madame Webb, a.k.a Cassandra Webb, first made her debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in November 1980. A clairvoyant with precognitive abilities, she’s often depicted as an elderly blind woman with a chronic disorder that requires her to sit on a life support system that looks akin to a spider’s web.
Many Spider-Man fans will recall her cameo in the 1990s Spider-Man animated series. More details to come.
